We use WordPress as the main platform for our client websites as it is easy to learn, quick to maintain and we can add new features relatively inexpensively. WordPress can also handle e-commerce with its Woo Commerce plugin but we wouldn’t recommend this for websites many hundreds or thousands of products. That aside, WordPress has either built-in functionality or plugins that enable us to build the following types of websites:
- Magazine
- Blog
- Content Management System (CMS)
- Gallery
- Portfolio
- Rating Website
- Shopping Store
- Video Collection Site
- Membership Site
WordPress is written using standard compliant high quality code and produces semantic mark up which makes your site very attractive to search engines. It also makes your website content easy to manage and keep updated. Finally there are a wide range of commercial and free design themes which we can adapt to create attractive, but usable websites for any size of business.
While WordPress is a great choice for SME’s (small to medium sized enterprises) it’s interesting to see how widely WordPress is used on high traffic websites:
1. BBC America
2. The Official Star Wars Blog
5. Fortune
6. Marks & Spencer for Business
8. Ford Social
10. ebay Inc
