Google product search is a vital tool for all anyone selling products online. To grow your online business it’s crucial that your products are submitted regularly so they are more likely to appear when someone types a product name into Google.
Google have always stressed the principal of quality and relevance in the websites they favour and that is now extending to product search.
Currently your feed needs to have the following information:
- product link
- product description
- image link
- product category
You now need to also include the following extra information:
- availability (required)
- brand (recommended)
- Google Product category (recommended)
This needs to be refreshed at least every 30 days and Google will be be doing random checks to ensure that the data is accurate. Failure to ensure this data quality could result in your products no longer being searchable on Google.
We have now done a few updates for clients and are pleased to report no major issues and with a few tweaks the new data was accepted, processed and our client’s products remain searchable in Google.
