This blog post describes the benefits of domain-based email. Imagine you are emailing a potential client promoting your business. Your email address is the one you set up when you were a teenager or have just set up using your business name @ one the common free email providers like gmail, yahoo, hotmail or outlook.
Your client receives the email and reads your quotation. They may continue to trade with you, but it does raise questions regarding credibility and the longevity of your business if you are only using a simple free email account.
This means that they may be less likely to pay for your services or buy your products if you don’t have your own domain name and associated email accounts.

There are several advantages to having a domain-based email address:

How to get domain-based email accounts
First you’ll need a domain name. We can advise on the best combination of brand name, services, locations and TLD (top level domain e.g. .co.uk, .com, .net etc) but you’ll need that first. We can purchase it for you or you can buy it yourself using your own account. Example domain name providers include 123 Reg or Go Daddy. As long you can allow us access to edit domain name settings (DNS) all will be good.
Once you have that we can do the rest. Options vary from simple business email through hosted exchange to M365 which includes Office 365, Teams and One Drive. In most circumstances old email accounts can be migrated to the new one.
- Simple business email – e.g. 1 GB storage expandable to 10 GB – prices from £20 per year.
- Hosted exchange email – using Microsoft email servers with 50 MB of storage and Outlook on the Web – £90 per year.
- M365 email – using Microsoft 365 mail services, prices from £60 per year.
